29 year old driver convicts by court for kidnapping of neighbour


Mumbai :- sessions court at Dindoshi convicted a 29-year-old taxi driver from Malad of kidnapping and attempting to murder his neighbour by grabbing his hand and dragging him for a kilometre with his taxi in 2010. The victim had sustained injuries to his head, arms and his legs and was hospitalised for a week.
The prosecution case was that on September 12, 2010, at about 1:30 am, Pradeep Pandey drove his taxi past Tapovan building in Pathan Wadi on Rani Sati road in Malad, dragging 40-year-old Randhir Singh along the road. Singh was working at a Ganesha pandal with his cousins and had gone to the washroom when he saw Pandey and two of his friends in a taxi nearby.
When Singh peeped inside the taxi to to make an enquiry, Pandey held onto his hand and drove the vehicle down the road towards a mosque near Sanjay Nagar. One of Singh's relatives spotted him being dragged and alerted the rest who followed the taxi. When they were near the mosque, Pandey let go of his hand and stopped the vehicle suddenly, due to which Singh fell to the ground. He sustained injuries and was semi-conscious, unable to speak coherently when his cousins reached the scene.
